Bryter Music are pleased to announce the release of PINK MOON by Nick Drake, through Island Records, on specially pressed vinyl on November 12th 2012 some 40 years after it first came out.
The original analogue master tapes were sourced by John Wood. John co-produced the album with Nick in 1972 and the tapes were found to be still in good fettle.
The album was re-mastered and cut in London’s Abbey Road studios and is pressed at CZ on ‘Audiophile’ heavyweight vinyl.
The album, with original label art, comes in a cardboard replica inner bag, housed in the original gatefold sleeve art, all re-scanned from original artwork and film.
It comes with two printed pages of Nick Drake’s original hand-written lyrics, a copy of the original Island shop poster advertising the album all housed in a box with details of original master-tape box lids and reel.
Closer details can be viewed at:
There is a choice of files for these:
1. High quality FLAC files
2. Normal MP3 files
3. DFD – Dubbed-From-Disc files (MP3) so you can hear Nick Drake’s own copy of Pink Moon played on a period record player for added authentication.
Warning: this unique third option contains the benefit of surface noise and scratches found on any well-played 40 year old disc.
Copies of this release are genuinely limited due to the cost of manufacture.
The release will be followed in the new year by Bryter Layter and Five Leaves Left in much the same formats
Though we would encourage you to purchase this album through your local independent record shop, geographical location may limit you to Amazon etc.
The album has been offered to every country providing there is a willing stockist to be found in each territory.
All of Nick Drake’s six CDs are available as per normal, but now in nicer card sleeves, not plastic ‘jewel cases’ anymore
